There’s no doubt that fostering changes young lives and, here at Slough Children’s Services Trust, we work closely with our fantastic foster carers, who provide a safe and loving home to many vulnerable children in our local area.

Children and young people are fostered when it’s not possible for them to stay with their birth family. This could be due to a number of reasons that include illness, relationship breakdown or concerns about their welfare.

Our carers do a brilliant job but we desperately need more of them. When we can’t find suitable foster families locally, children can be placed far from everything they know and love. We want the best for our children, which is why we need more local individuals and families to come forward. By becoming a foster carer, you’ll not only change a child’s life for the better, you’ll change your own too. Here’s what some of our carers and young people say:

Fostering is a job that makes you feel proud. It changes lives. - Mandy

Fostering is something that will truly enrich your life. - Des

My foster carers have become like family. - Denesh

Just as all children are unique, so are our foster carers who come from different types of families and backgrounds. They also carry out different types of foster care – some may look after a child for a few nights or weeks; others care for children until they reach adulthood.

Like any parenting role, fostering is rewarding and, of course, there can also be challenges. The support provided by our friendly team will ensure you’re equipped to overcome those challenges. This includes a full training programme, 24/7 support and we also provide generous allowances.

You can find out much more by browsing the menu at the top of this page, which includes the first-hand experiences of some of our foster carers. Or why not just give us a call on 01753 690777 or drop us an email at foster@scstrust.co.uk, or text FOSTER to 60066. We hope to hear from you very soon!
