Celebrating Foster Care Fortnight 2023

June 1, 2023

This year, Foster Care Fortnight ran from 15-28 May.

Like last year, the theme this year was ‘Fostering Communities’, which raised awareness about the power and importance of fostering as well as highlighting and celebrating the fostering community.

To celebrate Foster Care Fortnight and our amazing carers, our Independent Fostering Agency staff held a thank you brunch on Friday 16, at their coffee morning support group.

The foster carers spoke about the wonderful community they have within Slough and the positive outcomes they have achieved in the lives of the children they care for. The brunch also gave carers and staff the opportunity to relax, network and share a meal.

One carer who attended the event said, ‘fostering is my life, I don’t think I can do any other job’. Another said, ‘fostering is so rewarding, and the children inspire me’.

Slough Children First Independent Fostering Agency continue to offer a great support package to all carers including training, 24/7 support, generous and competitive fees/allowance, buddy support and a well-resourced team of professionals including the virtual school, clinicians and a play therapist.

We would like to encourage more people in and around Slough to take an interest in being a Foster Carer for children that need a safe and loving home. If you are interested in fostering with us, please call Slough Children First on 01753 690777.

Alternatively, you can text FOSTER to 60066, email foster@sloughchildrenfirst.co.uk or complete an online form on our website and a member of the team will get back to you.
