Resilience Foster care

What is Resilience Foster Care (RFC)?

This is a type of therapeutic fostering where a child or young person has experienced significant neglect or trauma, has high complex needs and would benefit from therapeutic caregiving as part of a step down plan from residential care or to prevent them from going into residential care. The children that will be placed in this scheme may have lived in a residential setting and need a supportive family home where they can build a trusting relationship whilst they receive therapy or support to help them overcome a traumatic experience or period in their lives. This is for children and young people with difficult or traumatic life experiences and are displaying complex, challenging and risky behaviours.

Who is Resilience Foster Care aimed at ?

This scheme is targeted at applicants with previous experience as foster carer, or have experience caring for children or young people, or have background in childcare, youth work, social care, teaching, probation, police etc. The applicants must:

  • Be over 21 years and have a spare room.
