Slough Children First’s Fostering Service launches resilience foster care

February 7, 2024

Foster with Slough, Slough Children First’s Independent Fostering Agency (IFA) is pleased to announce the launch of our resilience fostering service.

Resilience fostering is a form of therapeutic fostering, providing long term, family based, therapeutic placements for children and young people aged 5-16.  This service focuses on those who currently live in residential care, or who without this provision might be placed in a residential home.

Ben Short, Director of Operations at Slough Children First said: “We know there is a need for therapeutic foster care placements. Our vision at Slough Children First is that every child in Slough should be Happy, Safe & Loved, Thriving and this includes our most vulnerable children and young people.

We hope that this fostering initiative will support foster carers to understand why a child/young person may be challenging and work with them to heal, rather than feeling alone.”

Foster with Slough has other types of fostering placements too including emergency, long term, and home from home.  We would particularly welcome contact from people who would be interested in caring for our young people.

If you’re thinking about fostering or for more information, please call us on 01753 690777 or text FOSTER to 60066.
